A Traveler's Perspective of ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie

Disclaimer: As someone who doesn't dive deep into technical jargon, my perspective is grounded in everyday usage rather than the intricate specifications of the ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie. I will provide an insightful look into how this smartphone fits into daily life, highlighting its features and performance from a practical standpoint.

A few weeks ago, I went to Samar and got the chance to visit several tourist attractions in the province. In collaboration with my friend, Philip of SkipTheFlip.com, I was able to bring with me an ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie so I can test if it’s a good smartphone for travelers. This year, ASUS launched their new line up of smartphones and one of them is the ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie.

What I like about the Zenfone 4 Series is their strong wide-angle capability. As a traveler, it is pretty frustrating when you want to capture a certain scene but your smartphone is unable to do it for you. Fortunately, the ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie did not disappoint in this matter.

I was particularly fascinated with the beautiful, crisp shots that I took of Lulugayan Falls in Calbiga, Samar.

Nature. The best antidote for exhaustion – both physically and emotionally.

I also tested the quality of the images of the ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie in low light condition. During my three-day caving exploration in Langun-Gobingob Cave, I was able to take a couple of shots in Auto and Pro mode.

Here are some of the sample shots inside the Langun-Gobingob Cave.

ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie is one of the selfie-centered devices of the Zenfone 4 series so this smartphone is really a great choice for the selfie and groufie lovers. While I am more particularly enamored by the landscape shots, the selfie mode is also eye-catching.

The dual lens system in the front camera has a Portrait mode, allowing the user to take epic selfies with a blurring background effect thus, making the subject stand out. You can also switch to the wide-angle mode using the front camera which makes it much easier to take group photos.

As a frequent traveler who also vlogs, I wanted to test out the video capability of the ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie. I was able to take sample videos using both the front and rear cameras and they are pretty good. However, I noticed a slight delay issue in some footage that I took compared to using another smartphone. Focusing on the subject is a little challenging in low light conditions, but in a normal setting, the video quality is pretty good. The autofocus detection is amazingly fast and the audio quality is good.

Verdict

While you can find better smartphones out there, the ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie is fairly a good midrange smartphone for traveling. It’s an impressive set of cameras and affordability is basically a good catch for travelers who are currently on the hunt for a new smartphone.

The ZenFone 4 Selfie is available at the ASUS online shop for only ₱13,995.00. You can also purchase it at the ASUS official store in Lazada.
